My favorite part of work is seeing students thrive and grow. Experiential learning is all about empowering and preparing students to turn big ideas into meaningful actions.
Training and Mentorship at Illinois Design Consulting
I coach student members on Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles and provide training on additional topics covering UX methods and UI design.
Below are sample slides from lectures.
TE 498: UX Fundamentals
This course provides a hands-on introduction to design thinking and the fundamentals of UX research and design. Using the human-centered design taxonomy, students develop a semester-long project to research and prototype UI/UX design solutions. Students learn methods to perform initial research and project scoping, conduct interviews, create journey maps and wireframes, iteratively test prototypes, and hone their storytelling skills among other UX industry practices.
IS 100: Exploring the iSchool with a Human-Centered Lens
This course introduces students to the School of Information Sciences (iSchool). Students explore career and professional development within information sciences, building their leadership and collaborative skills, and building a network within and beyond the iSchool. Through a human-centered design project focused on an information science problem, students gain experience and a better understanding of the process to develop an innovative solution addressing a societal need.
