Reimagining the media search and publishing experience
Project Overview
Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois is accumulating a vast number of high-quality instructional video assets through the online course format. These assets are currently stored and published in a video management platform website, MediaSpace, which is now used by 5000+ users, including E-learning office staff, faculty, and students.

Gies College of Business has envisioned an all-encompassing curriculum applicable to Gies students and new communities of learners through online programs. The path to strategically and sustainably delivering to these new learners is through organized and modular content. However, many of those valuable assets are not being managed in a meaningful way or utilized to their full potential.
‍‍
Therefore, Our team was tasked to build a new curricular media search, and publishing tool for the current and future collection of media assets, connecting to the rich data available through the LMS and other scraped data from backends.

Solution Quick View
1. Search Features
Ensure quick and easy search for content
The basic and advanced search mode with media tabs and filters on the side allows users to further narrow down the search results and quickly locate the target media.
2.1 Upload Media
Quick and Straight Forward
Entering metadata beyond the required will result in the media appearing in top search results. Settings with default lists prevent human error in data entering.
2.2 Bulk Upload
Uploading multiple videos at once
Users can fill out the metadata template file for all data attached with videos. The files will now begin to upload, and progress bars will appear. Users will be alerted and allowed to verify the metadata after it's been successfully published.
3. Share Valuable Assets
Editing metadata and settings makes sharing more simple
Users will see a bar that shows how much metadata is filled out. The more metadata that is filled out the easier it will be for others to find the media.
